Armored Kantus

Eric Jarman was the winner of this year's Halloween costume contest at the Stan Winston School.  His "Armored Kantus" is insanely great, but the other competitors are worth a look as well.

The LeMarchand Legacy

Phillipe LeMarchand's greatest creation was his infamous puzzle box.  The intricate internal mechanisms required months of careful planning and design work before he could begin shaping the unusual materials used to create the device.   Pictured here is one of the folio pages used in that process.

In the upper left corner is the preliminary concept for the central clockwork mechanism that powered the box.  To the right is an alternate gearing mechanism bearing geometric engravings.  The design for the brasswork of the primary face is visible in the lower right hand corner.  Commentary and notes are interspersed with the schematic plans.

This is one of the LeMarchand folio pages I designed when I was really into the Hellraiser Mythos.  The paper is a bit wavy, so please forgive any distortions in the photos.  The print is roughly 11" by 17", on deckled 67 lb art paper.

I've been cleaning out my closets and this is one of the items I'm going to be throwing up on Ebay.  It's a pretty eclectic mix of stuff.  I'll post a link when they're actually listed.

Dark Future

It's somewhat disturbing how Two Horns United can make the apocalypse look so cool.  His Facebook gallery features dozens of projects, ranging from uber-grunged warriors of the wasteland to high-tech armor crafted from EVA foam.

Netherspawn Amulet

This Netherspawn Fragment comes to us from Jacob Reeb.  It's cast in resin off a Sculpey master sculpt.

The Mask of Malsum

Kieran Sidhe brings us a ritual mask from the Cult of Malsum of the Nissequogue Hollows. Mulsum, also known as Malsumsis, is a real mythological figure.  

In the dark woodlands of the rotting root and withered branch, roamed the Brethren Wolf- the death cult to the Algonquin god Malsum, who were heralded by the sign of the falling leaf. Their fires could be seen on wicked nights, in the hollows where even the desperate doe dare not tread. These ritual wooden masks of the cult were often discovered by English settlers in the surrounding area who regarded the native legends and folklore with disdain, as they claimed not to fear the Autumn demons whose ghostly whispers were said to linger in the night's crisp breeze.

The Innsmouth Look

This outstanding Deep One hybrid mask comes to us from professional makeup effects artist Anthony Kosar.  The finish work, including those incredible eyes, just knocks it out of the park.
