Iokharic Font

Before his death the late Neale Davidson of Pixel Sagas created dozens of fonts based on games and media properties.  Many, if not most, are perfect for occult and fantasy prop documents.  His Iokharic font is a good example of how useful his work is.

Iokharic is a Mandarin-stylized runic typeface based on the language described in Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons and Dragons: Chromatic Dragons book. The glyphs in this face are extremely similar to those found in the Chinese language. Includes canon characters. Includes bold, italic, and bold-italic weights.

Back in the olden days the only way to transform into a Deep One was having your bloodline darkened by the Innsmouth taint.  Now you just have to slip on this high end silicone mask from Composite Effects.

This beautiful set of Mongol-inspired LARP armor comes to us from Les Artisans d'Azure. The level of craftsmanship is just stunning. I'm also amused by how much the model looks like a young Paul Giamatti.

Scarecrow Studios returns to our pages with this Buddha-style Cthulhu idol.  The piece includes a nifty lighted base.

Working With Transparent Worbla

Worbla thermoplastic has become one of the go-to materials for cosplayers and armor makers.  The company also has a transparent version of their product with some pretty interesting capabilities.  I believe this is a slightly reformulated PET-G plastic, the same kind used to make beverage bottles.

Merrow Mermaid Specimen

SD Toys posted this picture of a massive Cthulhu-themed mirror.  It's either a nifty one-off for display purposes or a production prototype for an upcoming product.  Their Mythos action figures aren't really my cup of tea, but the mirror is pretty cool.

The talented Andrea Falaschi returns to our pages with this wonderful tableaux featuring both his prop work and music.  In addition to his signature Lovecraftian bottles he's also a member of the Italian horror-metal band Deathless Legacy.

Samize brings us his interpretation of the classic Cthulhu idol.  I'm always surprised at just how many different takes there are of Lovecraft's basic sketch.

This collection of items based on Dashiell Hammet's "Continental Op" stories come to us from CaldwellB734.  His gallery features multiple shots of the collection, including the Op's distinctive Colt 1903, personal effects, and ephemera.

German artist Marika Schirmacher brings us this detailed recreation of the Schattenjager Talisman from the classic Gabriel Knight video game series.

Adventure Time

Adventure Depot has posted a wide ranging selection of Mythos items, including multiple Cthulhu idols and artifacts.  Most of them include very well done accessories and ephemera.

Cthulhu Fhtagn! Chi Wei Shen Ming Edition. I Think.

I make a conscious effort to feature Mythos items from outside the purely English speaking world.  Making that task considerably easier is the fact that "Cthulhu" is treated as a proper name in most languages.  That means I can Google "Cthulhu" and the words for "resin" or "idol" in another tongue to find nifty stuff that would otherwise be overlooked. 

Sometimes that leads to things like this- "Overhead fairy baby Cthulhu larvae Chi Wei Shen Ming Hall also qualified Cthulhu thinker".   It's an excellent sculpt that's apparently being mass produced in China, but I have no idea how to credit the artist.  I'm also not brave enough to actually buy one, having had a credit card hijacked the last time I directly ordered from a Chinese website.  That said, I'd love to see someone import it to the United States.

Sander Propworx have outdone themselves with this LARP safe foam axe. The level of detail is just amazing.

Exoskeletal

Artist Bryre Rehm brings us this massive "crab creature".  It measures six feet in length and was sculpted with epoxy putty over a welded armature. 

The Dark Knight

No, not that Dark Knight.  This incredible set of LARP armor comes to us from Prince Armory.  Each piece is individually tooled from leather.  I can only imagine how many man hours of work went into something this detailed.

Forest Spirit LARP Mask

The gifted Caroline Eklund brings us a spirit of the forest brought to life in the form of a boar. This wonderful LARP mask features internally illuminated mushrooms, blackout eyes, and polished resin tusks. Surprisingly enough, the mask itself is sculpted from paper clay.

Of Unknown Origin

This curious specimen comes to us from Japanese artist Hajime Emoto. Based on some potentially dodgy translations I believe all of his wonderful specimens are crafted from bamboo and paper mâché. If true his work is even more amazing.
