Outcast Props returns to our pages with this nicely done full leather alchemist's bag.  It's designed to serve as a portable workshop and laboratory, with multiple slots for potions, vials, ingredients, and a removable drawer for document storage.  It mirrors a lot of the design cues from historical medicine chests going back to the age of sail.

 

 

Shaman's Dagger

Artedarme Workshop returns to our pages with this LARP-safe shaman's dagger.  They've done an outstanding job of recreating the look of real obsidian and bone.  That's no small feat.

Brutal Workshop brings us this incredible shaman's head dress.  The way they create layer after layer of texture really sets their work apart.

This impressive barbarian warlord axe comes to us from Artdarme Workshop.  It's wild to me that LARP safe weapons like this are par for the course these days. 

 

LARP Cinquedea Dagger

Artedarme Workshop returns to our pages with their latest LARP weapon.  This time it's a recreation of a 16th century Cinquedea dagger, based on an original in the Metropolitan Museum collection.  If you're not familiar with this type of weapon you can learn more over on Wikipedia.  It was one of the few daggers designed for slashing instead of piercing. 

 

LARP Stiletto

This excellent LARP stiletto comes to us from German artist Sander Propworx.  Cast in hard rubber with an amazingly realistic metallic finish.

 

 

LARP Morningstars

Artedarme Workshop brings us a pair of LARP-safe morningstars.  My mind is continually boggled by how far live action weapons have come since the old days of tube insulation and duct tape.

 

 

LARP Saber

I can remember when pipe insulation over a PVC pipe was the state of the art in LARP weaponry.  My, how things have changed.  This LARP-safe Arabian sabre comes to us from Artedarme Workshop.

 

 

Wolf Shaman

Another outstanding LARP costume from Ordacraft.  This time it's a wolf shaman featuring a cave wolf helmet.  One of the things I love about their work is the textural contrast between the hard goods, like the skull and the horns and teeth of the necklace, with the fiber elements.  It adds so much detail to every piece.

 

 

And My Axe!

Artedarme Workshop brings us this Mythos-themed LARP axe, complete with swirling tentacles on the shaft, strange runic inscriptions, the sigil of the Necronomicon on the blade, and an embossed Elder Sign on the pommel. 

 

Long Live the King

This nicely done King in Yellow costume comes to us from Bone Forge.  Surprisingly, their name perfectly describes what they do- creating prop bones for LARPs, cosplay, and media projects.  Oh, and they also happen to make the impressive tentacles seen here.  They created the costume for a Mythos LARP by Cultural Chaos. 

 

Balor of the Evil Eye

Sander Propworx returns to our pages after a too long absence.  Their latest is this "Balor of the Evil Eye" LARP helmet, based on the depiction of the evil leader of the Fomorians from Irish mythology as depicted in the Slaine comic book series.  Cast in fiberglass with a wonderful patinated bronze finish.

 

 

LARP Dagger

You kids today and your realistic LARP weapons.  Back in the day, we fought with swords made from pipe insulation wrapped in silver duct tape.  And we were happy!

Geezer flashback aside, it really is amazing how LARP weapons have evolved.  As artisans like Sander Propworx demonstrate with this dagger, things have gone far beyond being "Hollywood quality".  Stunt weapons on both the big and small screen just have to look good to a camera.  LARP blades are now so good they can survive up close scrutiny.

What a time to be alive.

Ordacraft of Brutal Workshop returns to our pages with this WIP shaman's belt.  I love the wonderful blend of textures between the soft textile elements and the bones and teeth.

 

 

Double Bracers

These beautiful Aragorn-inspired leather bracers come to us from Outcast Props.  What makes them unusual, other than the level of craftsmanship, is that a gambeson-style bracer nests inside the ornate outer armor.  Click through to see a full gallery, including some cool color variants.

The Miskatonic University Sahara Expedition

In 1932 Prof. Jeremiah Jefferson made an amazing discovery in the archives at Miskatonic University.  Somehow, a series of ancient tablets had been stored away for years without being entered into the official catalog.  They were written in an unrecognizable language similar to cuneiform, but bore one identifiable element- the seal of Zerzura, the legendary white city hidden in the sands of the Sahara desert.

After months of effort, Jefferson was finally able to translate some of the tablets.  Sure that he had the key to finding the fabled treasures of the lost city, he hurriedly put together an expedition to the desert using his own funds.  A team of experts from Miskatonic soon departed for Africa.  Once there, they hired local guides and traveled to Douz, the "gateway to the Sahara".  From there they headed into the desert... where they vanished into thin air.

One survivor, a local worker hired by the name of Feisal, was eventually found, injured and babbling incoherently.  While his physical injuries healed, his mental condition never improved.  He's hospitalized in Tunisia to this day.

Now, it's 1934.  Miskatonic University has partnered with the Royal Geographic Society, the W. Isynwill Foundation, and the French Foreign Legion to launch the Sutton-Gudrian expedition to the Sahara.  Their task is to follow in the footsteps of Jefferson's party.  Hopefully, they'll discover not only their fate, but the city of Zerzura itself.

That's the set-up for Chaos League's "Sahara Expedition" LARP event, which has been run eight times in the actual Sahara.  By all appearances, it was absolutely insane, and I mean that in the best way.  Beyond the players actually traveling to Tunisia to take part, the level of costuming and environmental immersiveness is mind-boggling.  Beyond the gallery linked above, check out the full player guide for a look at the level of detail.

 

 

Knight's Sword

Another beautiful piece of LARP weapon pr0n.  This time it's the Knight's Sword from El Marques LARP Shop.  The filagree work is cool, but it's the guard that really impresses me.  Despite being foam it really looks like braided steel rod welded in a forge.
