Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign

Nonconformity brings us this Elder Sign signet ring.  Like a growing number of Mythos items it was designed on a computer and then printed out at Shapeways.  The impressed wax seal is pretty cool.

Life Eternal

Rick LaRue brings us this this unusual amulet.  The ankh design isn't that notable, but the material is- the pendant is crafted from a section of real human skull.

Falmer Font

One of the many nice features of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is the extensive lore.  That includes some surprisingly sophisticated worldbuilding that ties together various language families.  The Falmer font is used for the ancient writing of the Snow Elves, which itself is related to the other Aldmeri-derived languages.

The Fae

People continue to operate under the illusion that fairies are lovable little creatures filled with happiness and joy.  Luckily, artist Tessa Farmer is not among that group.  She recreates scenes of fae engaging in their naturally brutal activities at a scale that's truly amazing.  We're talking figures measured in millimeters.  I can't imagine the patience and precision that something like this takes.

Cthulhu Fhtagn! Happnes Edition.

There have been a number of Cthulhu idols that use Lovecraft's original sketch as a starting point, but I believe this one from Happnes is the first to specifically bring the drawing to life.  It's an amazing effort.

Silver Linings

Last week I mentioned that I've apparently developed a sensitivity to epoxy putty.  That means avoiding any skin contact with the substance, so I've been forced to wear nitrile gloves and use shaping tools to sculpt.  It's turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

I'm not sure why, but I've seen a huge improvement in the quality of my work.  I'm finishing up a project right now and I'm genuinely amazed at the results.  I'll post pictures later this week when it's completed, but I think you'll be as surprised as I was. 

Dagon Sigil

The Trident of Dagon.  There's some obvious influence from the version used in Stuart Gordon's film, but that's mostly from coming at it from the same angle of using organic forms.  The odd shape of the central spike is a callback to the mitres worn by the priesthood of Dagon.  It still needs some tweaking, but I'm happy with the basic form.
