Cthulhu Mosaic

Artist Mark Arnold was kind enough to send over some preview shots of his Roman-style Cthulhu Mosaic.  What makes it particularly impressive is that it's a hand-painted resin casting.  He sculpted the master from hundreds of styrene tiles mounted on a wax base.  It's a beautiful piece of work.

Update:  They just happen to be available on Ebay. And...they're sold out.

That is an extremely clever prop and the photoshop supporting photos are a lot of fun also. The foundation piece really looks like it is made up of tesserae. Bringing the Cthulhu Mythos into other contexts is just part of the fun. Just do a Google image search for “Roman mosaic” to turn up lots of images of other mosaics.

Thank you for the kind comments. You're right, bringing the Mythos into a new context was a big part of the fun. I was looking to do something that I hadn't seen before.
It was also a lot of fun photoshopping the image into real scenes of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Glad you like it.

I think this is one of the most original Cthulhu Mythos creations I've seen in a long time. Great job.
