Tomes of Darkness

Across most of the internet calling something "creepy and disturbing" is an insult.  Here, it's high praise.  This pair of creepy and disturbing prop tomes come to us courtesy of Mr. Zarono.

Lovecraftian Newspaper Articles

Mike Jenkins has collected some excellent classic era articles to serve as filler elements for prop clippings.  It's wonderfully horrible stuff.

Sweet Lucille

This is foam.  I can't think of any higher praise for this recreation of Lucille from "The Walking Dead" by Sander Propworx.  Absolutely amazing.

Numanewt Specimen

Tayler Brown returns to our pages with this fetal numanewt specimen.  The translucence of the flesh really sells it.

The Sorceror Troll

The gifted Alice Tochylovska brings us this wonderfully well done sorcerer troll. It's probably the triangular symbols and staff headpiece that gives me a heavy "Dark Crystal" vibe.

The Catmander

Johnathan Rode returns to our pages with this specimen of the rare and elusive catmander.

LARP Alchemist's Kit

Leatherworker Stefano Meo created this wonderful LARP alchemist's kit.  Unfortunately, it was only briefly available on Etsy, so I was forced to mine Google's cache to grab these photos.  His storefont may have some other items you'll enjoy.

The Book of Myst

"Myst" is a legendary game that, it many ways, created the open world exploration genre.  One of the defining features of the game and its sequels is the importance of books, including the magical linking books that allow inter-dimensional travel. Artist Jonas Eklundh has spent years recreating the "Myst" book that allows the player to initially enter the game world. That includes illustrated maps from the game as well as the notes and documents found in various locations.

Mea Culpa

I have a rather embarrassing confession to make.

I'm still in the process of unpacking from the move.  Imaging my surprise when I came across a box containing half a dozen Miskatonic University Alumni packages.  That should be impossible, since I mailed all of them.

Except, upon reflection, I didn't.  I'd set aside a number of them for international customers and had started posting them off as I checked the shipping charges for each country.   That process was well underway back in June when the I had the one-two punch of twin high school graduations followed by my eldest's wedding.  In the mad three week rush of those events I totally forgot about the remainder of the international orders.  That means some of you are still waiting to hear back from me about how much your order will cost.

And you've been waiting five months.

Because I'm a putz.

For that, I sincerely apologize.

On the bright side, I still have your packages.  Unfortunately, I don't have any record of who is still waiting.  I have the PayPal invoices for the orders that did go out, but I only billed people right before I actually sent out their packages.  If you contacted me about a set, but never received a shipping quote or PayPal request, your package is sitting in my workshop.

If you're still interested please drop me an email at propnomicon@gmail.com.  Again, my sincere apologies for letting this slide through the cracks.

The Shrouded Dead

The talented Ash Robles brings us this South American style mummified body.  A lot of artists trying to reproduce the look of real mummies end up creating glorified skeletons.  Mrs. Robles does an outstanding job of capturing the nuances of desiccated flesh shrinking to conform to the bones as it dries.

Idol of Nightmares

Italian artist Christian Alpini has uncovered an unusual idol that reportedly causes nightmares in anyone that touches it.  Surprisingly, there appears to be a scientific basis for this apparently supernatural power.  Read more about the "L'idolo degli Incubi" in Italian, or peruse the Google translation in English.

It Bites

This nasty little parasitic worm comes to us from artist Ian Austin.  The paint job really highlights the wonderful texture work.

Dark Warrior

If I saw this striding toward me across the battlefield I'd probably wet myself.  Sander Propworx brings us his personal LARP armor, photographed by Moritz Jendral Photography.  We featured the helmet earlier this year, but the complete costume is even more impressive.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign*

"I opened the box. On the pink cotton inside lay a clasp of black onyx, on which was inlaid a curious symbol or letter in gold. It was neither Arabic nor Chinese, nor, as I found afterwards, did it belong to any human script."
-William Chambers from "The King in Yellow"

The Kickstarter for the King in Yellow Christmas Cards is in it's final hours. As part of the project artist Daniel Gelon has created a conjectural version of the Yellow Sign to avoid infringing on the well-established design from Kevin Ross.

Trophy Mount

The talented Christopher Andres brings us this mounted bat goat.  A wall full of fantasy trophies like this is one of the highlights of the three story library I'll build when I win the lottery.  Heh.

Cthulhu Crusades

"Cthulhu Crusades" is a new card-based building game currently up on Kickstarter.  There's a lot to like about the project.  That includes the historical mythos art of Robert Altbauer, who's no stranger to these pages.  His illustrations based on the Bayeux Tapestry are at the heart of the game, filling the tarot deck/game cards.

The extras are equally high quality, featuring an Altar to Dagon/deck box and Cthulhu idol sculpted by the gifted Daniel Ritthanondh.

The icing on the cake is the involvement of Alberto Cano of the Cthulhu Project.  He has a long history of successfully shepherding projects through Kickstarter and making sure everyone gets what they were promised.   That's no small thing given the unfortunate history of failed Kickstarters run by less experienced organizers.  Given all that I think it's a project worthy of your support.

Winged Degu

The degu, or bush tailed rat, is a mundane rodent native to Chile.  Artist Kimberly Alisse Boyer brings us this specimen of the winged degu, the far rarer Awakened variant of the species.

The Black Pharaoh

Unsungno1 created this faux papyrus by phonetically translating H.P. Lovecraft's poem "Nyarlathotep" into hieroglyphics and then embellishing it with modified Egyptian figures.

Great Cthulhu

If I had half of Paul Komoda's talent I would die a happy man.  His latest project is this incredibly detailed Cthulhu bust.  The texture work is simply amazing.

The Necronomicon, Makov Edition

Artist Victor Makov brings us this well done take on the "Evil Dead" style Necronomicon.  The whole "cover made from a human face" thing is a bit ridiculous, but over the last few weeks we've seen some really outstanding interpretations.

In Transit

Things may be a bit spotty over the next few days.  I'm in the middle of moving and it's starting to sink in just how much...stuff...I've accumulated.

Right now I'm seriously regretting my decision to collect vintage encyclopedias.  On the bright side, I'm going to have forearms like Popeye by the time I'm done re-shelving everything.

The White Knight

Sweet fancy Moses.  This set of incredibly ornate leather armor comes to us from Prince Armory.
