Deep One Skull

Justin Bailey brings us the skull of a Deep One. There are some nice anatomical touches, like the expanded eye sockets and the nearly non-existent nasal cavity.

Wow what a coincidence. I'm also working on a Deep One skull! It looks very different though. Haha.

This is just plain awesome. Out of the entire Lovecraft bestiary (not counting the Old Ones themselves), are there any monsters that filled us with the same degree of disgust as the Deep Ones and half-human freaks of Innsmouth?

You're right, the detail is amazing on this. I really hope the artist plans on coloring it. It would look amazing with a good brown/black/green wash.

I have to agree with the other comments: superb. This isn't just a kitbashed human skull, but a completely original engineered skull. I also agree that a bit of staining and color would bring out the detail. Paint the teeth with an enamel paint that duplicates the high polish of real teeth and work the skull with different washes of black & etc. This is a piece worthy of a glass case and a spot in any collection.

I know its months later, but I'm wondering if anyone has contact with Mr Bailey.

I ordered one of these skulls from him back in May, and well.... its October. I'd followed up with him every month, and well.... he's stopped replying to emails and the phone number I had for him is out of service.

I'm sorry to hear you were stiffed. I know it's not of much help now, but a good rule of thumb is to give an artist 30 days to come through with a project. If they can't guarantee that, better to let someone else take the risk.
