The Mountains of Madness Project Update

All of the artwork for the Mountains of Madness Project is essentially done.

Both the period map of Antarctica and the Dornier Wal blueprint will by roughly 18" by 24" and printed on 100 lb. acid free uncoated paper. That was the best stock I could find for reproducing the look and feel of the real thing.

The flyer for the expedition's departure ceremony will by 9" by 12" and printed on 100 lb. paper with a matte finish. That's a bit heavier than a period handbill, but it should make mounting it easier for anyone that pursues that option.

The Hobart, Tasmania postcard will be, well, a postcard. Standard postcard size printed on 13 point uncoated cardstock.

With the core items finished things are almost ready to go. If there's anything else you'd like to see included now is the time to chime in.

The touch ups to the departure ceremony poster came out nice.

The only thing I can think of, is a miskatonic university flag. The sort that is erected at basecamp.

*shrugs*

Otherwise, looks good to me!

poldenf turbsAwesome!

Just brainstorming but how about Expedition photos, survey records or samples from notebooks? And way more ambitiously a brass plaque (or more easily a photo thereof) for the expedition to plant, marking their campsite when they leave for future explorers to find. Not sure if that was done back in that period, but it would be a cool prop!

If I might ask, if these are the 4 main items, what other items could be added to the package?

Mission patch? I have regretted missing that one last time!

See beautiful Antarctica, enjoy the mountains and just go mad at the Miskatonic University’s first annual Antarctica Expedition outing! Tell them the Old Ones sent you and get an Elder Sign. I just love advertising copy.

Note sure if this was accepted earlier-

- Some sketched produced by the men exploring the city and its "decadent artwork", perhaps with later notes.
- A map such as might have been kept by the ships as they tracked the expedition's progress, with dates and comments scrawled in.
- Notes given to the expedition's radio operator, with later comments about "change this to..", "better skip this...", etc.

So far what I have seen looks great!

I just wanted to mention that I'm taking your feedback seriously and I'm looking at possibly expanding the size of the project.

Id like to echo the "mission patch". I wear the miskatonic university pin, and arkham sanitarium pin all the time... not sure a mission pin is appropriate?

Pdf ideas - aircraft maintence service records, preflight checklist, pilots lisence/cert.

I know someone else did a version.... but a pemmican wrapper/recipe to make pemmican.

Whiskey labels, coffee/tea ration labels.

*thinking*

Seriously, a pennant.

The narrator referred to Danforth seeing "something which he will not tell even me about". Maybe some hints about this, from a hasty sketch, or a snapshot, would be cool.

Perhaps some of the crew?

I'd love to see small tins with expedition-specific labeling for rations or patent medicine. It would folks something to carry around, like previous field-books.

Merchant Marine ID Card (crew members) maybe?

And I have no clue in the world what they look like. it just came up in a discussion at work today, when we were talking about what ID Cards people in the transportation industry need today, vs 15 years ago.

A mission pennant would be tops
