Cthulhu Art Figure
The Cthulhu Project returns to our sponsorship roll with his latest Kickstarter project- a Cthulhu Art figure. They've been involved in a number of previous Mythos-related efforts, including the well received Cthulhu Ouija Board from earlier this year. More importantly, he's carried them off successfully. That's reassuring given the increasing attention to failed or long-delayed Kickstarters.

The gold and silver finishes on this figure really put me in mind of Aztec and Mayan figures. But the polychrome painted figure is a bit too cute for my taste. It’s interesting how much the finish affects my impression of the exact same figure. If you made a pre-Columbian Amerind tableau with this figure with the gold finish, it would really be striking. Also the goggle eyes remind me of Japanese Jōmon Culture figures such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C5%8Dmon_period#mediaviewer/File:JomonStatue.JPG
