"The Jungle is Neutral" is an Australian blog dedicated to classic era adventuring and travel. There's a goldmine of material covering vintage camping and bushcraft gear, from bedrolls to period rations. One of the highlights is a look at WW I era compasses. This is exactly what the Miskatonic expeditions to Antarctica and Australia would have been carrying.

There are a number of turn-of-the-century type compasses from civilian types to military compasses. There are also some excellent antique style compasses. Some are made well, but others are not so good. They come from India and China, but most make a good addition to a costume or a game, just keep in mind that the case cannot be made of a magnetic material, if you want it to work.
