Manticore Tooth

Artist Kristopher Maxwell brings us this well done manticore tooth. One thing I wanted to point out is how much the presentation elevates the whole piece. It's just a simple box with a label and some spanish moss, but it adds a whole new layer of verisimilitude to the central prop.

While Michael's craft stores may not have much beyond basic art supplies, one thing they do have is inexpensive wooden boxes like this that are great for projects. I think I've seen this very one for just a few dollars.

That’s right, a little presentation goes far. You can also use a simple specimen container like a Riker Box, which is available cheaply on line. De Verisimilitude Mysteriis?
