I like this version. It looks like it is based on Lovecraft's sketching and improved with more recent ideas. I think it has the look of something from an old monster movie while not being too plain.
I am trying, unsuccessfully so far, to work on my own version that looks less like it originated on Earth, yet still fits with everything by Lovecraft, but sticking with the classic look works great.
