The Cthulhu Heirloom

Sophie Klesen brings us this beautiful silver and garnet Cthulhu necklace. The quality of the sculpting is amazing considering the small scale of the piece. If only every cursed family heirloom could look this good.

That is a very inspired piece. I like the incorporated seaweed motif and the artist wisely stays away from an Art Nouveau interpretation. Sterling work is much more demanding as a casting material due to its fairly high melting temperature vs. pewter/brittania or other low-temperature metals. Also, sterling is not as soft as base metals, allowing for a more delicate touch. I would like to congratulate Sophie Klesen on a fine piece of jewelry.
