On the one hand it looks as though it's made from black candle-wax that's begun to melt and drip down onto the block it's sitting upon, what with the deep and strongly parallel vertical grooving of the tentacles and limbs... on the other hand, it looks so disturbingly organic (in an H.R. Giger way, with the revealed portions of the head) that one might hesitate to keep it on one's bedstand, lest -- when the lights are turned out -- it could get up and move around....
