This is insanely cool. The "Die Blutelfen" LARP group is dedicated to roleplaying a tribe of blood elves, with an emphasis on "dedicated". Their Facebook page is filled with photos detailing the group's ornate costumes, event camps, and even a peek at their rituals. It's gloriously over the top.
Looks like they lean a BIT toward North American Natives. Funny thing: I've lived in Germany and the Germans have a fascination with American Indians! At open market/festival street markets etc you see TONS of Dream Catchers, Indian jewelry, pictures, some weapons and beads/regalia.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed the same thing in Finland. I have heard it said that Finland is the America of Europe, lots of open space with forest and farmland so kind of North-Western America. A lot of Finns moved to America during the 19th and 20th centuries. In fact some areas around the Canadian border have Finnish speakers. I'm getting a bit sidetracked but yeah the fascination with native peoples is much wider spread than just America it seems.
