Bronze Blade

Dale Bigford returns to our pages with this recreation of a Mycenaean sword.  The blade blank was shaped from real bronze.  How cool is that?

  1. That’s a reasonable facsimile of a Mycenaean sword. Although the magnet sticking is probably due to an iron content or iron core, not because of a tin alloy. The originals were cast and there are a number folks out there who are casting them in stone molds or using lost wax technique like the originals. A Google search will turn up a lot of sites on Bronze Age sword making, but here’s a few to start you off.

Knowing a bit about the subject of the European Bronze Age helps in playing Call of Cthulhu if you have a professor character. I really suggest that folks look up these fascinating weapons and the techniques in making them.

  2. Reminds me of our friends a Omega Artworks. They've made props for a number of TV shows as well as numorous custom ritual blades. http://www.omegaartworks.com/movies-and-theater.php
