Custom Tome
Janet at "It's a Little Like Magic" brings us this custom tome. The extensive photographs of the construction will be of interest to anyone considering their own custom book project.
The mold on the pages looks quite convincing. Parchment being basically dried (parched) animal skin can indeed get moldy, as can paper.
Some of the photos of damaged documents being conserved in this article might help prop makers in producing convincing effects: http://cool.conservation-us.org/coolaic/sg/bpg/annual/v15/bp15-14.html
For some photos of decayed papyri, you need only do a little Googling: Dead Sea Scrolls, Ptolemaic papyri & etc
