I really like the form of this piece, but the very chaotic (and necessary) nature of this sculpt makes it difficult to appreciate in a 2D photo. My suggestion is to do some highlight work in addition to the good black wash to give it a bit more contrast, at least for photos.
The presentation can be punched up a notch by going to the flea market and buying a nonfunctioning anniversary clock. You can salvage the glass dome and the base of the clock to make an artifact really look special. For some reason items under glass, especially a good quality case, makes props stand out. This is a really good depiction of something a human might perceive of a multi-dimensional creation, at least as well as a nearly unhinged mind can make of such an apparition.
Example of a reused clock case and dome: http://www.jenniferrizzo.com/2013/02/make-faux-terrarium-out-of-thrift-store.html
