The Altar

Michael W. Moses brings us this altar dedicated to one of the Great Old Ones. I love the effect produced by having multiple works displayed together. Your eye can just rove around and pick out all the little details and flourishes.

  1. The central figure is a herm that fits into a slot cut into a base and overset with a removable dome. The tentacle vase to the left is one of Michael W. Moses’ newest works. It has an embossed Byzantine design that morphs into evil, black tentacles around the rim. Drink at your own peril. The background is a Chinese garden seat in the form of an elephant, so common in Qing gardens. There is also a scattering of ethnic jewelry and a skull with incense. You can find his other works easily by googling Michael W. Moses.
