Julian DiMarco brings us another oddity from the Able Workshop, this time a preserved example of the "Guinea Naga".
As an aside, it's always a good idea to check the publish date for your posts. Otherwise the feature you intended to show up this morning might not pop up until you finally get around to checking the blog at night. Not that I would ever make such an error, of course. Heh.
Nice. If I ever do another 'Thing' I'm going to take a shot at something with a face.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious as to how they get the wax seal so smooth though. I seal mine by melting the wax in a small pot and slowly dribbling it over the top as I slowly turn the jar. So I always end up with a very rough textured surface.

ReplyDeleteIf you dip the top of the bottle in molten wax you get a very smooth finish. I dip a few layers to get a firm foundation and then add texture by dribbling wax using a bamboo skewer.
Ah, I figured it was somethign like that. Thanks! I confess though I'm a little too paranoid about flipping my larger bottles upside down to try this method. Now, if I ever do a small one, I'll give it a shot.
