Egypt, 1922

A Bedouin cameleer relaxes with tea and a pipe of kief in the trackless desert west of Cairo.

Another prop photo for the "Masks of Nyarlathotep" project. The picture was actually taken just south of El Wad in Algeria, so the "west of Cairo" description is technically accurate. The original caption characterizes kief as "the desert man's opiate", so I was a bit surprised to learn it's actually derived from cannabis.

  1. Every time theres a Masks of Nyarlathotep post, it makes me want to revisit that campaign, and makes me wonder if theres a possible Masks Prop Project in coming in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was going off the original caption, but in this case I love being wrong. That site is absolutely fascinating.

Because of copyright restrictions I can't do any projects directly based on Chaosium's published materials. That said, it's certainly possible that a future project would focus on travel related props tied to cities like New York, Cairo, Shanghai, and Mombasa.

  3. Do you play Trail of Chtulu? I could see Simon of Pelgrane being interested in doing some sort of prop packet.
