Cthulhu Fhtagn! Miller Edition

Here's something new. Britta Miller bring us this faux lava stone Cthulhu idol. It was sculpted from polymer clay and then coated in salt. Once baked the salt was washed away to reveal the rough, bubbly surface finish.

  1. Very nice and I LOVE learning about the techniques used to achieve the effects found in these wonderful sculptures.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. The idea to use salt is really quite good! I think I´ll try it too. It would probably look even somewhat more authentic if the surface would be sandblasted at the end.

  3. The finish on this figure has an outstanding texture. I’m always impressed by the innovation of prop makers. Compare it to an original lava figure here that sold at Christies auction http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/lot_details.aspx?intObjectID=4011946
