Cthulhu Fhtagn! Hickman Edition.

Stephen Hickman occupies a unique place in Mythos art history.  He created the Cthulhu idol released in a limited edition of 2000 pieces by Bowen Designs back in 1999.  It was the very first mainstream release of Lovecraftiana, and to this day it's one of the genre's most sought after pieces. 

His latest piece revisits that original Cthulhu idol sculpt.  He's making it available through a Kickstarter drive that just went live.

Scroll of the Black Pharaoh

"And at the last from inner Egypt came
The strange dark One to whom the fellahs bowed;
Silent and lean cryptically proud [...]
Throngs pressed around, frantic for his commands, [...]
While through the nations spread the awestruck word
That wild beasts followed him and kicked his hands."

This intriguing Scroll of the Black Pharaoh was recovered by a Miskatonic University expedition to Egypt's Valley of the Kings.  The rough translation of the contents comes to us from Ion Ander Art.

Cthulhu Fhtagn! Akao Edition.

This cool Cthulhu idol sculpt comes to us from Japanese collectible company Gecco Corp.  It was created by artist Shinya Akao as the master for an upcoming run of vinyl coin banks.

Great Cthulhu

Yaox Tribal Art brings us this WIP shot of their Cthulhu plaque.  I really like how they incorporate the cups and spirals motifs of Bronze Age standing stones.

The Yuggoth Stele

The talented Jason McKittrick returns to our pages with this intriguing artifact recovered by Prof. Wilmarth of Miskatonic University in 1928. The so-called "Yuggoth Stele" was found at an unknown location in Vermont.

Innsmouth Harbormaster

The Innsmouth taint is strong in this one.  Joel Harlow created this Innsmouth harbor master makeup for an independent film project.

T-51 Power Armor Helmet

A huge number of Fallout fans were disappointed by the reproduction T-51 power armor helmet included with the special edition of the game.  That didn't discourage Aaron Kahler.  He did a complete rebuild of the helmet, including an amazing weathered finish.  Click through for a full gallery of the finished product.

The Blind Book of the Lost Holkar Expedition

I've been featuring the work of MilleCuirs for years, but this project is a bit different.  His latest piece is an impressive example of tomecraft called the Blind Book of the lost Holkar expedition.  In addition to the wonderful binding it's filled with documents, ephemera, and journal entries telling the tale of what actually happened to that unfortunate group.  You can see some of the contents in this video posted to his Facebook page.

I was really impressed by Maarten Verhoeven's last Mythos project.  Now he's back with a new Cthulhu idol that, if anything, is even more impressive than his previous work.  The style strikes me as Art Nouveau by way of H. R. Giger, and I mean that as high praise.

At great personal risk Alice Tochylovska was able to capture this didko, a shapeshifting Slavic demon. They've been known to occasionally be helpful, but those incidents are few and far between.
