Angelic Amulet

Angels with smiling faces and long, flowing robes may be comforting, but that's not how they're actually depicted in the Bible.  They're fearsome, awe-inspiring creatures that definitely aren't just humans with wings.  Artifacts from Hell brings us this cool angel amulet that captures some of their inhuman nature.

Bowtruckle Specimen

Artist Cristóbal Graciá brings us this captured Bowtruckle.  One of the creature's most admirable traits is an insatiable hunger for fairy eggs.

Cthulhu Mug

I'm normally not fond of Mythos tchotchkes, but the craftsmanship of this Cthulhu-themed mug from Andrew Tarrant has me making an exception.  Both the sculpt and glaze are outstanding.

The Dreamer

This intriguing tableaux comes to us from artist DB81.  The idol is the very popular Ancient One Tribute Box released last month.  I was a little surprised to see the price has started to climb from the original $12, but that may be Amazon's targeting algorithm.

Classic Era Ship Deckplans

The Shipscribe naval history site has an amazing library of ship deckplans from the classic era of the Mythos.  The collection is drawn from the 1920 edition of the "Register of Ships Owned by United States Shipping Board" and includes dozens of ships ranging from 4000 ton wooden steamers to massive 13,000 ton steel passenger and cargo haulers.  The listings are an incredible resource for any kind of pulp-era gaming.

The Thing Beast

Artist Paul Braddock brings us the Thingbeast, a nifty bit of nastiness.  It was designed digitally, 3D printed, and then hand painted.

Arkham Lost and Found

Ephemeral Rift's latest ASMR video features a visit to the Arkham Lost and Found antique shop. A familiar bit of cultist paraphernalia makes an appearance right at the end.

While ASMR videos are eminently mockable, in most cases veering between incomprehensible muttering and cam girl boob fests, I really enjoy narrative roleplays like this.  The best are a mix of dramatic monologue and improvisational theater.  Within that realm Ephemeral Rift is a standout, with a bizarre internal mythology that embraces all sorts of high weirdness.  His Deep One Dave videos are genuinely funny Mythos comedy, a rare thing indeed.

This well done dragon eye amulet comes to us from artist Dawn M. Schiller.

Send in the Clowns

Coulrophobia, the irrational fear of clowns, has been enjoying a surge of popularity thanks to a wave of "menacing clown" reports (here, and here) across the US.  A pessimist would view this mask from the Shoggoth Assembly as doubly creepy- it's a clown, and a skinned human face.  An optimist would see an inspiring trophy

A Dagonite in the Wild

Artist Ian Austin was lucky enough to find a juvenile Dagonite in a small freshwater stream.  I've heard speculation that many cryptid sightings are actually specimens traveling back upstream to spawn.
This small specimen was glimpsed briefly before darting away into the water. Given it’s size it is guessed to be around two weeks old, as is it already showing multiple appendages. Dagonites this size live off small fish and insects, eventually graduating to larger prey like birds and larger fish. As it grows, the Dagonite will work it’s way down stream, eventually ending up in the ocean where is is free to grow unrestrained.

While their full size is unknown, lore describes them as being massive. These creatures have been observed throughout the centuries, entering into seafarers’ tales of monsters from the deep. It is believed that H.P. Lovecraft’s tale Dagon, describes an ancient one of these creatures, from whom it gets it’s name.

Dragon Skull

The talented Britta Miller returns to our pages with her latest project- a wearable dragon skull.  The anatomical details are quite nice, particularly the detailed sutures.

It Bites

This curious specimen was obtained from parts unknown by artist Joen Bager.  Having seen multiple B-movies I would strongly suggest a container with a sealable top.

Oscar Edlund brings us this post-apocalyptic raider costume from the Blodsband Reloaded LARP, modeled by his father.

Cthulhu Awakes

Artist Eric Pochat brings us this unusual take on great Cthulhu.  I suspect we're going to be seeing more experimental interpretations like this as digital sculpting gets more widespread.

That Other Adventuring Archeologist

Cosplayer JessieTR is really into Lara Croft and the "Tomb Raider" series.  Her dedication to capturing the character includes some impressive props, including the Atlas artifact and a conjectural diary based on "Rise of the Tomb Raider".  She's been kind enough to post a video featuring a look inside the pages of the diary.

Magic Circle

Here's an occult summoning circle for dressing up paper props.  It's intentionally clean so you can distress it as required.   Just right click and open the link in a new tab to download the full sized version.

Below the base version are two different takes on how it could be used.  The first is how it would look tinted by watercolors on parchment.  The second the "energized neon" look popularized by the Arcane Circles Photoshop brush set from ObsidianDawn.  I've been surprised by how widespread this style of presentation has become over the years, to the point that it's been adopted by Marvel in their upcoming "Doctor Strange" movie.

The Book of Lolth

Who knows what horrors wait within the Book of Lolth?  Mille Cuirs brings us this spellbook dedicated to the infamous demon queen of the Drow.

Say what you will about Gary Gygax, but he really hit it out of the park when he created D-Series of adventures for Dungeons & Dragons.  The Drow elves are the first genuine example of clever worldbuilding I can remember experiencing in a tabletop RPG.  The imagery of their culture, and the infamous Vault of the Drow, were the only time Mr. Gygax tapped into his love of weird fiction.

Tenno/Orokin Alien Language Font

The Tenno/Orokin written language was developed as part of the worldbuilding for the "Warframe" video game.   Competitive first person shooters aren't my cup of tea, since I'm old and have terrible twitch reflexes, but I just love the work that went into this fictional dialect.  The character set has the feel of an alien Arabic, with very stylized glyphs and formally arranged characters.

You can download the full font from Dylexy's DeviantArt page.  Just click on the "Download" link in the upper right corner.

Even better, "Warframe" fan Clarvel has created TennoTyper, a web app that automatically converts text into Tenno/Orokin characters and formats a downloadable .png for use.

Pages from the "Evil Dead" Necronomicon

Illustrator Tane Williams has posted 15 of the Necronomicon pages he created for the 2013 remake of "Evil Dead".   It's a very different style from the original version, but the pages nicely fit the aesthetic of the new film.

The Kraken

Japanese site Tinami brings us an unusual take on the infamous Kraken.  I believe Kappa7 is the artist responsible, but I'm relying on a Google translation for that.

Claw of the Harpy

Dayne Hodson brings us an unusual trophy- a preserved harpy talon.  It's nice to see fae aren't the only supernatural creatures being hunted down.

Fetal Deep One Specimen

The gifted Rick Sardinha returns to our pages with this fetal Deep One.  The axolotl-style gill stalks are a nice touch.

Zap!

Chunk a Nuke props returns with this recreation of the electrified paddle ball from Fallout 4's "Nuka World" DLC.   The newest release has somewhat soothed my disappointment with the franchise, but I really hope the rumors of a new Obsidian-authored sequel are true.

The Chimaera

Certain supernatural specimens require active containment.  Artist Sheridan Doose brings us this example of just such a creature.  It's a prototype for a resin kit, but it sadly doesn't appear to be available as of yet.
